When one finally gets home after a long day, the next thing in their mind is to bed immediately even without removing their makeup. But trust me, sleeping in makeup is really bad.
Going to bed with makeup can cause unnecessary exposure to the free radicals in the environment which the makeup holds on to. Free radicals cause the break down of healthy collagen which results in fine lines on the skin. Sleeping in makeup can also clog the pores resulting in the development of acne.
Sleeping with makeup can also cause premature aging and wrinkles. This is because during the day, we accumulate a lot of oxidative stress. So when we sleep in our makeup,we aren't giving our skin a chance to recover from those insults which can lead to premature aging.
Mascara and eyeliner must be removed from eye before going to bed because they can be rubbed by our pillow and end up in our eyes which can lead to significant eye irritation. Personally, I will prefer keeping makeup remover pads by our bed so as to wipe across face and eyes on those nights when we may be tired to clean the face properly before going to bed.
Foundations: These are thick oil-based primers and are often the worst offenders.
They prevent the skin from renewing itself naturally at night, causing blackheads, acne and dullness.
Am Veronica.
XOXO.......
